The Human Soul

The Soulbyte Superhighway (1 of 7) >

*The Human Soul is the spiritual “heart.” It was designed by God to administrate His thoughts, feelings, and actions, thus functioning as a gateway for His Spirit to flow through man (Psalm 24:7, Prov. 4:23). Said differently, the soul is the interface between the spirit world and the natural world. When God formed man out of natural elements, He breathed the breath of life into him and he (man and woman) “became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7). Because of The Fall, our souls are wounded and dead to God’s Spirit (Genesis 2:17). **Once we are born of God’s Spirit (“born again”) our souls are awakened to His kingdom and His Spirit is sent to live in, and flow through, us (Galatians 4:6, John 7:38, 39). From this newly awakened state, our souls need to be healed of wounds and charged (infused) with God’s promises (James 1:21, Psalm 107:20). The restoration of the human soul is at the center of Jesus’ assignment (Isa. 61:1, Matt. 11:28-29, Ps. 23:3).

The human soul administrates:

1. Thoughts (mind): Proverbs 23:7, Hebrews 4:12, Romans 12:2

2. Feelings (emotions): Mark 14:34, Luke 1:46, Psalm 35:9

3. Actions (will): Psalm 103:1, Psalm 130:5, Psalm 119:129

*In the Bible, the soul and the spiritual “heart” are two sides of the same coin (Psalm 13:2, 24:4, Deuteronomy 4:29, Proverbs 2:10). The soul (spiritual heart) is also what psychologists call, the “subconscious mind” - the seat of intuitive/auto pilot thoughts and feelings (Prov. 23:7).
